From the 1940s, the mother of all novelty print dresses, featuring barflies, human and otherwise.

  • Black-on-white print features stylized patrons and their insect companions at a well-stocked bar
  • Classic 40s styling with kimono-cut ultra-short sleeves, hip peplum, knee-length skirt
  • Unlined "cold rayon"
  • Side metal zipper, crochet-loop and button closure at front neck (wear it open or closed), thread belt loop (our belt not included)

Labels: none - probably home sewn

Fiber/Care: no tags, rayon / washable with care (dry-cleaning recommended)

Condition: sections of dye bleed, though it's not nearly as obvious in person as in the photos. a few small, inconspicuous spots as shown. price adjusted significantly to compensate for these flaws in an otherwise amazing dress. original belt missing, ours shown in some photos is modern and not included.

*This 1940s peplum dress is clean and ready to wear.*

Garment Measurements:
(NOTE: there is enough seam allowance, top to bottom, to add about 2" to any of the measurements shown)
bust: will fit body up to 33"/84cm around
 bodice length: 14.5"/36.5cm
waist: will fit body up to 25"/63.5" snugly, best for 24" or smaller
hips: will fit body up to about 36"/91.5cm
 length: 39.5"/100.25cm

(The dress was made for a small person and has a petite cut. It fits our mannequin, Delphine, nicely and is not clipped to fit her in the photos. She measures b: 32, w:24, h:35.25, and there's plenty of wiggle room in the hips. There's decent seam allowance, which would allow for an additional 2" or so at any point along the side seams, top to bottom.)

Our items are not newly manufactured "vintage style" pieces. They are true vintage, at least 30 years old. Please read condition report provided above.
