From the 1940s (or thereabouts), a black velvet cigarette case with lush, golden peacocks front and back. This style of hand-embroidery is known as Zardozi (aka Zardouzi, Zardosi, Zari, or metallic bullion). Too petite for modern filter-tips, this case will fit standard lipstick tubes perfectly. Stylish stash storage for those of you in Colorado. Satin lining. Snaps closed at the front. Probably made in India. From the Patrice M. collection.
