50s/60s Black Velvet Low Back Dress

The perfect vintage LBD from the late 1950s or early 1960s. Jet-black velvet. Practically prim from the front, with its sleeveless ballet neckline, nipped waist and just-right skirt length. Then turn around and wow! A deep, open V-back, all the way down to your waist. Constructed with all the right seams to flatter the figure, but the velvet is too rich and dark to see them. Full attached lining, generous seam and hem allowances, metal back zip with hook&eye at top. Add a jacket, cardigan or shawl and you can wear it anywhere. So versatile. And absolutely gorgeous.

Labels: none - but does not appear to be home sewn

Fiber/Care: unmarked, feels like a high-quality rayon (or possibly silk-blend) velvet, acetate lining, dry-clean

Condition: very close to perfect. we found a teeny (.5cm) spot of crushing on the skirt (could not capture it on camera), and we stitched closed a tiny (.5cm) tear at the top inner corner of the back walking slit (invisible)

*This cocktail dress came to us dry-cleaned. It is fresh, clean, and ready to wear.*

Garment Measurements:
 bodice: 15"/38cm
bust: 34"/86.25cm+ seams (fits my 35.5" bust)
waist: 25"/63.5cm (remove the hook to add at least an inch)
 hips: 38"/96.5cm
 length: 37"/94cm

Too tight on my 26.5"/67.25cm waist, but would work on a 25.5" if you aren't overly concerned with comfort. Removing the hook&eye eases the fit quite a bit. This dress would work best on someone with an average or short torso.
