Vintage 1950s or possibly 1960s capelet of vibrant sapphire blue wool embroidered on cream cotton. The ethnic print features peacocks, other birds, and stylized geometrics and flora. The needlework is done such that the background fabric creates wonderful texture. This little poncho actually provides a bit of real warmth. We believe it was made in Mexico, but may have come from central or south America. From the estate of the well-traveled Mrs. Phelan.
The color was difficult to capture, so we've included a PMS color chip that closely resembles the deep purple-y blue of the capelet.

- This capelet fits the mannequin nicely, but also fit somewhat larger people we tried it on. We don't recommend it for someone with more than about a 40"/101.5cm bust, or with especially broad shoulders, as the broader/deeper the wearer, the higher the straight-across neckline will sit. It would be most comfortable on a small to medium figure. -
