This jet black little black dress from the 1950s is simple but chic, curvy but covered. Features graceful scoop neck, kimono-cut short sleeves, multiple princess seams front and back. Fitted torso, dropped waist, and built-in sash with bow at the left hip. Slim, straight skirt with back kick pleat. Unlined. Hanging loops at shoulders. Closes with metal Coed side zip. From the wonderful wardrobe of Elizabeth W. This sheath predates her obsession with 60s shift dresses.

Dress appears lighter in photos to show detail and texture. It is true black, not faded, and only very slightly sheer under the bright lights. You can wear it with or without a slip for modesty.

Labels: only an illegible size tag remains

Fiber/Care: unmarked, feels like cotton but is likely a cotton/rayon blend with a slightly slubbed "raw-silk" look (see close-up photo), we recommend dry-cleaning, but we also know it can be washed

Condition: no flaws to note. we found the remains of what could have been a French tack at the hem, indicating the dress may have originally have had a lining, but we can't be sure. we also think it may have had thread belt loops, but we can't imagine why, with it's shapely dropped waist.

*We've had this dress professional dry-cleaned and it's ready to wear.*
