Victorian 1890s Drawnwork Petticoat

This petticoat has the most incredible drawn threadwork and crocheted lace at the hem. It was clearly meant to be worn over a corset, as the original waistband is so tiny, the owner added a makeshift waist extender! The off-white cotton fabric, extensive top gathers, A-line shape, decorative tucks, and exquisitely detailed lace are all typical of the last decade of the 19th century. A wearable piece of history.

Labels: none

Fiber/Care: cotton, hand wash

Condition: our gentle but thorough hand cleaning in Vintage Textile Soak removed all of the dirt and most of the stains, but scattered marks remain, especially near the waistband. there are a few tiny areas of wear, also mostly at the top. of course, if you wear it under another skirt, showing only the gorgeous lace, none of this matters.

*This petticoat is freshly laundered and ready to wear.*
