40s Tilt Hat in Taupe Wool With Veil and Feathers

From the 1940s, a jaunty little hat meant to be worn at a tilt (thus, the nickname).

From the 1860s through the 1950s, Merrimac Hat Company, headquartered in Massachusetts, made finished hats and hat bodies (intended for subsequent decoration elsewhere). By the 1940s, the company was the largest hatmaker in the U.S.

Materials: wool felt, netting, natural feathers, fabric, wire

Condition: slight rippling to the top of the felt (could be steamed back into shape), veiling is slightly crunchy but it doesn't affect the look or wear at all

Dimensions: 
one size fits all, as it sits atop the head at whatever angle suits you best, with the loop against the back of the head. you will likely want to use bobby pins or other clips to hold the loop in place and a hat pin to ensure it stays where you want it.
 the felt portion measures 9" across the top and 6.5" from the bow to the turned-up front brim
 the feather spray measures 9" across and 5" tall
