30s Black Velvet Batwing Sleeve Evening Jacket - sm, med
From the 1930s, an evening jacket in jet-black silk velvet. Two-layer construction features a sleeveless interior vest beneath a ruffled outer layer that forms flowing sleeves. Feels wonderfully soft and flowy. Deaccessioned from the University of Georgia's Historic Clothing & Textile Collection. Some photos lightened to show detail.
🎓 Proceeds from the sale of this antique jacket will be donated to the Historic Clothing & Textile Collection at the University of Georgia. I thank Asst. Prof. and HCTC Liaison Monica Sklar, PhD, for letting me help with the monumental and super-fun task of culling and organizing the collection. Follow @ugahctc.🎓

Fiber/Care: no tags, silk velvet / dry-clean
Condition: There is one 1.5" long tear at the upper right back shoulder, which has been mended. It is inconspicuous as it's over another layer of the same fabric. There are a few spots where the nap is thinned, slightly crushed, or, as shown in the composite photo, gone. Overall is very good. Wearable with care.
