From the 1920s, a sleeveless, dropped waist, belted shift dress with exquisitely delicate details. Blue embroidery at bodice, wide neckline, and deep armsyces. Faggotted shoulder seams. Typical dropped waist with "robe de style" pleats at either hip. Belt loops hold coordinating two-part belt with hand embroidered detail. French seams. No closure. Slips over the head. And speaking of slips, you'll want to wear something beneath this semi-sheer, feather light dress. So yummy. From the Helen D. estate.
Fiber/Care: cotton voile (we're fairly certain, although it is so fine and smooth, it feels like silk), washable (hand wash or delicate cycle on cool in net bag and hang or lay flat to dry)
Condition: a few minor stains that are were not worth risking the fabric to remove as they don't show or detract under normal lighting. fabric is sturdy and sound. the ties provided match beautifully, but may not be original to the dress (they are the same age, or older, and from the same collection). you can tie them as we did, or leave the dress uncinched and tie a bow or knot at either hip, or replace them with a belt of your choosing. We have two more lengths of matching "belt." If you'd like them for a coordinating headband or some other purpose, let us know and we'll work something out.
*We've given this dress the magic treatment and a thorough hand washing and it's bright, fresh, and ready to wear.*
- the dress has no closure and must slip over your head, but the wide scoop neck opening is quite generous, so the dress should accommodate a range of sizes -
bust and waist: 48"/122cm
hip at top area of pleats: 60"/152.5cm
Dress is far too big on skinny Cecelia, so not shown to its best advantage in the photos. A fuller figure would fill it out much better.
