Elegant 1960s sleeveless shift dress with a princess silhouette in jet black. Satin trims the neckline, the armscyes, and creates a lovely elongated silhouette on the front with three lines extended from the fringed bow. Side seam pockets. Unlined. Closes with nylon Talon back zipper and top hook&eye. Union made in the U.S.A. From the estate of the fascinating Elizabeth W., Queen of the 60s Shift Dress.
Labels: Peck & Peck (upscale New York City department store) 1963-'74 ILGWU label
Fiber/Care: no tags, Very soft and drape-y natural fiber that feels like cotton and silk, but burn test is inconclusive. Satin feels like silk. Could be high-quality rayon. Dry-cleaning recommended.
Condition: no flaws to note
*This dress was washed by Elizabeth's grandson, and then we had it professionally dry-cleaned. It survived beautifully (another reason I'm pretty sure it's not rayon).*
