30s Art Deco Crochet Purse With Butterscotch Bakelite Bracelet Handle

An unusual art deco handbag that's really two vintage goodies in one: a white crochet wristlet purse suspended from a butterscotch Bakelite bangle bracelet. The silky white lining has one elasticized and one regular slip pocket. Cotton gauze inner lining. Even the bell-shaped metal Talon zipper is cool. Big enough to hold all the essentials, small enough to use as a formal evening bag. From the 1930s.

Fiber/Care: unmarked, feels like nylon blend crochet and acetate taffeta lining, Bakelite handle (Simichrome positive), hand washable (!)

Condition: we gave it a gentle hand wash in Vintage Textile Soak to restore brightness, and it worked great. the inside is spotless and overall, the bag looks brand new. some minor discoloration (and a bit of fuzziness from wear) remains at the area where the handle attaches, and there are two small spots on one side of the bag (see photos). these might lift with further treatment, but are quite inconspicuous.

Dimensions: purse measures 8" (20cm) wide at top, 9" (22.75cm) wide at bottom, 5" (12.5cm) high, and 1/4" (0.64cm) deep (but easily opens and expands), bangle is 1/4" (0.65cm) wide with 2.5" (6.34cm) inner diameter
