50s Green Velvet Party Dress

Hunter-green velvet dress with sculptural construction and gray satin waist-defining detail. Luscious bow at back below open V-neckline. Buckram-lined skirt is meant to be worn without a crinoline, as shown, to maintain the sophisticated, architectural shape. Metal Conmatic back zip with top hook and eye, plus snaps to hold bow in place. High style for any cool-weather event and perfectly gorgeous for holiday parties. Union made, with attention to detail, in the U.S.A. in the 1950s. From the Mary C. estate.

Fiber/Care: unmarked, cotton velvet, acetate bodice lining, buckram skirt lining, unsure of satin bow composition (very silky), dry-clean only

Condition: the dress looks perfect at first glance, but it has subtle flaws, as follows -- there's color shift/fading within most of the folds of the highly sculpted skirt, as well as at the tops of the shoulders. there's color shift on the gray satin of the waistband and bow, and on the interior underarms. there are a few pin-pricks along the satin waistband. price is adjusted accordingly.

Please ignore the vintage size 10 tag and go by the above measurements. This dress will best fit a modern U.S. size 0-2, or perhaps a 4 if you're not overly concerned with breathing. We show it on Delphine, who measures b: 32, rib: 27, w: 24, and she has just a bit of room to spare. We had to give her bust a boost with pads, as the dress has ample cup space.
