- Could be worn as a skirt with an opaque slip beneath (or without, not judging)
- It's hard to precisely date this as its home sewn and an item that hasn't changed much over the decades. But based on all the evidence we're fairly confident it's from the 1940s or early 50s.
Labels: none - home sewn, somewhat imperfectly and priced accordingly
Fiber/Care: no tags, feels like cotton net (like thick tulle) with soft, cotton blend lace, elastic at waist / washable (no dryer)
Condition: a few age spots (may lift with targeted treatment), the waistband elastic is extra stretchy and has been taken in at a few spots (about 3") - these tucks could be snipped for even more room, or more could be added to fit a smaller size
*This vintage petticoat is freshly laundered and ready to wear.*
Garment Measurements:
waist: easily stretches up to 44"/111.5cm (and could add another 3"/7.5cm or so if you snip the existing tucks. Unstretched it's about 25"/63.5cm, but it won't stay up on someone that size due to the stretchiness -- the weight of the fabric pulls it down. It could be made to fit smaller sizes by taking additional tucks around the waistband or adding a new, smaller elastic.
hips: free, but not bulky, as the fabric drapes - circumference at the bottom of the smooth area about 78"/198cm
length: 41"/104cm
hem sweep: just shy of a full circle
