From the 1940s, a glamorous evening gown in rich burgundy velvet with fabulous bustle detail at back. From the NKW estate.
* wide-set gathered straps (easily cover a bra)
* slim silhouette with sweeping hem and dramatic bustle back
* unlined, with metal side zipper
Labels: none - home sewn
Fiber/Care: no tags, substantial, weighty cotton velvet / dry-clean
Condition: presents beautifully. there are a few crushed and worn spots in the velvet -- none conspicuous in normal lighting. there's a 1" repair to the lower back on the right side, above the waist. there's evidence of the original basting stitches and additional restitching/reinforcing along the waist seam (the dress is quite heavy from the yards of velvet and thread tends to disintegrate faster than fabric). see photos.
*We've had this ball or evening gown professionally dry-cleaned and it's ready to wear.*
Garment Measurements:
bust: 36"/91.5cm+
waist: 26"/66cm
hips: free
skirt length: 40"/101.5cm
hem sweep: 154"/393cm
✂️ Dress is clipped to fit Delphine in the photos and she measures b:32, ribs:27, w: 24. It's also a bit roomy on me in the bodice and I measure b: 35.5 (32D), ribs: 31, w: 26.5. The waist has enough give to fit me easily. There's endless fabric to let out along the length of the skirt's waist, but limited seam allowance in the bodice. ✂️
