Antique Framed Print by Thomas McIlvaine
Print of a young woman in white dress and black bonnet, holding a bouquet of pink roses -- unaware she's beset by spiders, ants, and swarming flies. Very goth!
Please note that a previous owner added the spooky, hand-drawn bugs.
We have a pair of these beautifully framed and matted, antique 1890s Victorian illustrations. This one is by Thomas McIlvaine, the other is by Maud Humphrey. We are happy to offer a discount if you'd like both. Please inquire.
Labels: Signed (very faintly, but it's there) at lower right, about 1.5" above the mat, next to her dress. Looks like an original watercolor, but almost certainly isn't (I hope not, given it's been altered).
Condition: as noted, the "spooky" elements were added by hand by a previous owner. the frame is sturdy and high-quality, with a few very minor, age-related dings, as shown in photos. the print itself is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: about 17" high x 14" wide, total, image is about 9.5" high x 7.5" wide
