40s/50s Navy Blue Party Dress

Late 1940s or early 50s party dress in sheer navy blue with pintucks, rhinestone-and-faux-pearl buttons, kimono-cut short sleeves, nipped waist, and full skirt to wear with or without a crinoline (not included). Lined in silky solid navy. Sweetheart bodice lining creates an illusion effect (best with a strapless or skin-tone bra). Closes with a metal side zipper. From my personal collection. Fiber/Care: no tags, most likely rayon, dry-clean

Condition: extra-low price reflects lots of little glitches that don't detract from the overall beauty of the dress and are not obvious when worn. we've resewn the zipper seams. there are scattered pulls and tiny holes (see composite photo for the worst). the lining peeks out along some of the hem edge (we have it pinned up in front but not in back for the photos). looks like there were originally 4 decorative buttons, but only 2 remain (buttons are not functional, there are no buttonholes). there's stress to many of the seams, but the fabric remains strong and wearable. a bargain for a beautifully detailed dress with plenty of life left in it. We have not cleaned this dress, but it is fresh and ready to wear.
