40s Cream Rayon Satin Full Slip or Dress - 36, sm, med

SKU: 00582-003

From the 1940s, a slinky, sexy full slip (or nightgown, or, if you dare, dress) in candlelight white rayon satin:

  • Dainty, metal hardware on adjustable straps
  • Defined bust cups with multiple darts
  • Asymmetrical hem is midi length and peaked in front, floor length and straight in back
  • Patented design (see image)
  • Looks sheer on the mannequin, but as you can see on the unretouched photos of the live model, it's not)

Labels: Formula
(U.S. patent 2.318.771 was granted to Sol Friedman on 5/11/1943)

Fiber/Care: Rayon / washable (drip or flat dry, low iron or steamer)

Condition: no flaws to note except the remaining residue from a theater or costume house label, which will likely lift completely with targeted treatment, although we make no guarantees and have adjusted the price accordingly (we gave the slip only a gentle wash so it's ready to wear).

Garment Measurements:
labeled a size 36(inches) and appear to be true to size
bust: 34"/86.25cm + room for breasts
underbust (at middle of "band"): 31"/78.5cm
 waist: ~32"/81.25cm
 hips: ~40"/101.5cm
length (measured from top of bust "cup" on front): 41"/104cm to top of front slit, 55"/140cm to edge of back hem

The slip is clipped on Cecelia the dress form, but it still doesn't fit her well. She's too slim. She measures b:33.5, w:23, h:34.5. The slip is NOT clipped on the live model, and while it fits, there's plenty of room throughout, so if your measurements are similar (or somewhat larger) than hers, this should work for you. She measures: b:35.5(32D), w:26.5/27, h:36.5, height 5'5.5"/166.25cm

Our items are not newly manufactured "vintage style" pieces. They are true vintage, at least 30 years old. Please read condition report provided above.
