50s Asian Print Silk Sheath
Vintage 1950s silk sheath dress in taupe with a delicate, black and red Asian print of birds and cherry branches. Body-conscious but modest cut. Waist seams at the sides only with flattering pleats above the hips. Bust darts. Princess seaming front and back, with elongating center front seam. Gorgeous details include frog-style closures on the matching belt and above the metal Talon back zip. Full lining. Exquisite mid-century style, made in Hawaii. From the estate of the impeccably dressed Ms. Dorothy E.
Labels: Polynesian Casuals for McInerny Honolulu
Fiber/Care: all silk, dry-clean only
Condition: Not perfect, but perfectly wearable. There's diffuse staining/color shift noticeable mostly under the photography lights and one inconspicuous spot at bottom right front (see photos). The silk has worn away at the edging under the arms, and on one side the teeny cording within is revealed (it doesn't show, but we'll tack it in place). The zipper is functional but a bit argumentative, so we gave it a rub with Ivory soap to improve its mood. We've priced this gorgeous dress accordingly. It really is exquisite.
*We've had this dress (not the belt) professionally dry-cleaned and it's ready to wear.*
