50s Green and Purple Floral Sheath Dress
From the 1950s, a silk wiggle dress in green and purple watercolor print. Extra short sleeves, flattering pleats and draping at the crossover bodice and hip. Nipped waist, slim skirt. Fully lined. Union made in the U.S.A.
Main color is true green (not teal). Flowers are purple (not blue), darker green, and golden olive.
Labels: no manufacturer label, only a 1955-'63 ILGWU tag remains
Fiber/Care: no tags, all silk, dry-clean
Condition: a wounded bird and priced accordingly. the dress is mostly sound, but there's scattered damage at the upper shoulders and a tiny bit at the armpits (see photos). we've used seam allowance to discreetly patch/camouflage the largest tears, but scattered holes remain. the dress is otherwise strong and should hold up for several wearings and cleanings without further repair, but you can extend its life with additional repairs or creative embellishment at the shoulders. the flaws are inconspicuous due to the busy pattern and the lining color. there is also some color shift on the lining, as shown.
*This dress is clean and ready to wear.*
