White Stag began in 1929 as an offshoot of the Portland, Oregon-based Hirsch-Weiss Manufacturing Company, making clothes for the new sport of downhill skiing. Warner Brothers purchased the company in 1966, and after returning from bankruptcy, sold the White Stag name to Wal-Mart, where it remains a house brand.
