50s New Look Black Silk Party Dress

This vintage 1950s jet black silk party dress feels as gorgeous as it looks. Substantial faille fabric with a defined satin waist. Piped ballet neckline, three-quarter sleeves with underarm gussets and elbow darts.The double-layer bodice has vertical openings in the top layer over the bust. Full skirt is fashioned with two inverted pleats at front and back, for sleek fullness without bulk. Metal Conmar side zipper. Unlined. Pinked seam allowances. From the estate of Dorothy E., who had (and made) some of the most exquisite clothing we've seen. We show it with and without a crinoline, not included.

 length: 41"/104cm

This dress can be challenging to get on and take off, even when it fits quite well, due to the side zipper and nipped waist. You'll need to be careful, and have a reasnoable flexibility in your shoulders.
