50s Pink Floral Silk Party Dress
Wow! This 1950s silk party dress has all the touches that make mid-century vintage so dreamy. The fabric is a mid-weight silk featuring beautiful pink and fuchsia roses with green leaves on cream. Spaghetti straps, double-layer "crumb catcher" shelf bust held in place with French tacks. Nipped, defined waist. Pleated, slightly tulip-shaped skirt with gorgeous bow at the center inverted pleat, just above the hem. Lined at bodice only. Pinked seams, hem tape. Closes at back with a metal "double Talon" zipper and top hook&eye.
This dress was beautifully home sewn with care (note hand stitching in photo) by expert seamstress Dorothy E., she of the enviable wardrobe. Dress is shown with and without a small crinoline, not included.

Seam allowances are too slim to let this dress out. For reference, this dress fits me well, with a bit of room around the lower ribs. I am 5'5-1/2" and measure b: 35.5 (32D), w: 26.5, h: 35.5, and usually wears a U.S. modern size 2/4. I like my waistbands snug, but not tight.
